The project aims to develop the textile and leather industries. These two industries have been chosen to focus on them due to several factors:
They are labor-intensive industries.
- They are promising industries in Egypt that have significant development potentials. Thus, effective contribution to raising the national income and reducing the unemployment rate in Egypt.
- These two industries are linked to multiple international agreements. Thus they are within the state’s plans to develop the Egyptian industry and increase the volume of industrial production.
- The project aims to encourage factories and industrial companies to reinvest parts of their profits in the development, training and skills development. The project also brings together different stakeholders who are interested in textile and leather industries.

The project team has been formulated from a group that includes key partners: Cairo University (the main applicant), the National Research Center, the Industry Modernization Center, the Chamber of Textile Industries, the Chamber of Leather Industries, and three (Italian) European participants, namely Progesto Sued, Link Campus University and the Expert House Sercum Advisory.
Cairo University has chosen Egyptian partners with interest in the two industries and European representatives with experience in advanced industries in these fields. This is in addition to the associate participants: The Ministry of Industry and Trade
The project is managed by Prof. Dr. Gamal Darwish, Professor with the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Cairo University and Chairman of the Informatics Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities.
